This week was ok for junking, but not one for the record books. The first purchase I made was a small redware plate made in Japan, that is a match for a teapot that my grandmother received as a wedding gift. It was a quarter, so what the heck!
Next thing I spied was a stack of FILTHY china. It is the Currier and Ives pattern by Royal. My grandmother collected the Old Curiosity Shop pattern by them. She would get pieces with purchases at the M System grocery store. This pattern was sold the same way. I have some random pieces of it already. Anyway, this vendor had 43 pieces, and they looked like they had been stored outside in the garden, they were so dirty. He wanted $10 for all of it! Of course, I am such a big spender that I walked away with them it for $5.
Now for the best part of my day…I love my vintage Pyrex Cinderella mixing bowl sets. I had one lone bowl in the Blue Snowflake pattern. I couldn’t believe it when I found a set of 3…just missing my bowl! Perfect! It was meant to be! Especially for $12.
I went ahead and wrote my post, not realizing I would be back at the flea market the next day…and I found some better stuff! I only bought from two vendors, but it was enough to make me feel better about the weekend!
The thing that drew my eye was this clock case…
Note: I have since done some research…it is an Ogee clock dating probably from around 1840!
A much better day!
