It’s What’s Cookin’ Wednesday!!
Last Sunday I made this cake to take to my mother-in-law’s house for Sunday dinner. I usually try to come up with something new each week, which drives my husband nuts. He would be happy with a rotation of two or three of his favorites. I needed to make something, but I didn’t want to go the store. The only cake mix I had was strawberry for some reason. So we get strawberry cake. My 6 year old great-niece Emma said, “This is delicious!”
I made the cake as directed on the box.
While it was baking, I mixed together a can of sweetened condensed milk, and a jar of strawberry ice cream topping.
When the cake was done, and still warm, I poked holes in it with the end of a wooden spoon.
And poured the mixture over the top. I put it in the refrigerator to chill for a few hours. I took it out, and spread cool whip over the top, and added sliced strawberries.
This is the final result…
Of course, I had to serve it on a vintage Fire King jadeite plate! It tastes better that way!
