So since I just got back from a week in Puerto Rico, some of my favorite things are obvious. Sun, warm weather, beautiful blue water, beautiful scenery…
Most people don’t know that much about Puerto Rico. My husband lived there for six years, so my family gets the advantage of his knowledge. It is a wonderful place to visit. It is a territory of the United States, so the currency is the dollar, and most people speak at least some English. There is a beautiful rainforest there, El Yunque, the only one on U.S. soil.
We were there for the San Sebastian Festival, located in old San Juan. San Sebastián (Saint Sebastian) was a Christian who was martyred for his faith. There is a street on the north side of Old San Juan named in his honor. It is kind of like Mardi Gras! There was a ton of street food that is awesome. Pinchos, which are like shish kebabs, in pork and chicken…
Churrasco is skirt steak, marinated and grilled. It is DELICIOUS! We went and had it at El Tenador, a traditional steak house in Juncos. Another perk of my husband having lived there…he know all of the good places!
I LOVE PUERTO RICO!!
Have a good weekend!
