What an exciting weekend! Our house mover started bringing in equipment! I was so happy when I saw the beams under the house, I almost started crying! It is finally happening! The boys had a blast with the skid steer over at the lot, clearing trees, rocks, vines and everything else to get the lot ready. There are a lot of decisions to be made.
I know I haven’t posted a moving update in a while, but we have been in a bit of a holding pattern! Here is a recap of what has happened since April: Here is what the house looked like when we found it. We removed the 5 chimneys, 8 fireplaces, foundation, doors, hardware, HVAC, moldings, wainscoting, and anything else that was removable. We cleared the
I got off to a really good start with my blog. I had over 2,000 hits my first week, which I think is pretty spectacular! Thank you! Then I put a little too much on my plate. You know how when you sweep the floor you make a little pile, then get your dust pan to sweep it up? This is what happened the first time I swept my floor: Isn’t my parlor beautiful? Sure it is! Well, it was when that picture was taken when the house went on the National Historic Registry in 1982. Here is the same fireplace now:
One day back in March, my mother was having back surgery at the Village Hospital off of highway 14, here in Greer, SC. It was a long, 6 hour surgery, on a nasty, rainy day. My husband came over from work at lunch to check on mom and to bring me and my father some lunch. On the way back to work, he noticed a
